EUAS is the one of the largest private universities in Estonia. The reason why I chose EUAS is that besides engineering skills I can get entrepreneurial skills from my course. It has always been my dream to go to a foreign country for studies and EUAS staff is very helpful.
What are you studying at EUAS and why did you choose it?
I am studying Software development and Entrepreneurship. The reason for choosing this course is that in the future I would like to start my own business, so through this school I can get entrepreneurial skills as well as gain software skills. It was always my passion to develop something cool and that is the reason why I like programming and I chose this course.
Did you have any fears about coming to Estonia?
My biggest fears before coming to Estonia was about how I will adapt to the new culture and environment, how I will make friends, how will be the studies and so on. After I came to Estonia, I feel there is no difference between people of Asia and Estonia. Deep in heart everyone is the same. Once I started learning Estonian and Russian, people started to talk with me more and more. The biggest thing about Estonia is, if you will accept their culture they are welcoming.
What do you like and dislike about Estonia?
I like the greenery, nature and free transportation services in Tallinn. I do not like the cold at all, but I like snow so much.
Have you learned any Estonian? Any favourite Estonian words or phrases?
Yes, I am learning Estonian every day. Now I can speak a little bit as well and my Estonian favourite word is küsimusi.
Are there any cultural differences between India and Estonia?
Indian and Estonian cultures are completely different. The biggest difference is independence. Children in India are so much more dependent upon their parents but in Estonia a lot of the youngsters start working already at age of 16.
How would you compare your academic and social life in your home country and in Estonia?
I became very active and confident in my academic life as the teachers in EUAS are so supportive. After coming to Estonia I became socially active as well and I like to make new friends.
What do you think of the e-services here?
I love the fact that Estonia is a digital country. If you would like to set up a company, you can set it up online, additionally sign documents online, vote online in elections and file taxes. It is so surprising for me that you can do almost everything online here.
You are doing an internship in one of the world's leading logistics companies Kuehne+Nagel Group. How was the process of finding an internship position?
I am doing my internship in Kuehne Nagel. I applied through cv.ee and during interview I was asked about my projects that I have done and about different technical questions. Currently I am working there as a intern front end developer.
What would your advice be for future students?
I would recommend all Software program students not to just pass any subject. My advise would be to dig deeper into the subject because every subject is meant to provide knowledge that will help you in future. In the beginning, I was also thinking just to pass the course and get good grades. Now I am about to graduate and I understand the meaning of each course and why it's been added in the program.
What are your plans for the future?
I would like to graduate and do my Masters in Software engineering. In the future, I would like to start my own business as well.
