Introducing the speaker, Viktorija Priļenska, who will present in the academic part of the 10th Annual Entrepreneurship and Innovation Conference (EIC) on the 6th of October
Viktorija Priļenska (Dr.Arch.) is a Postdoctoral Researcher at TalTech (Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia). She is involved in two pilot projects—GreenTwins and Well-being Score—which are being conducted jointly with the FinEst Centre for Smart Cities and the cities of Tallinn and Narva, respectively. GreenTwins focuses on the dynamic vegetation layer for the digital twin of Tallinn. The Well-being Score provides an objective assessment of the quality of the built environment, based on data from biosensors, psychological surveys, and openly accessible big data. In her previous research, Viktorija worked on the topics of serious gaming, co-design, civic engagement, and energy transition. Vitorija had also been working as an architect and urban planner outside of school, mostly on building renovations and detailed plans.
Viktorija will present the project GreenTwins and the title of her presentation at the EIC is “GreenTwins: A Collaborative Planning Support System (CPSS) for better decisions in relation to urban green infrastructure”.
The GreenTwins project provides new tools for collaborative planning of green areas in the cities of Tallinn and Helsinki. A co-planning application The Virtual Green Planner enables everyone to contribute to urban planning processes and suggest revisions and extensions to urban greenery. A virtual reality application Urban Tempo provides an immersive visualisation of the temporal changes in the existing and planned urban greenery. Bot applications are powered by the library of algorithmic vegetation, which simulates the development and changes of urban flora over time. A smart planning hub AvaLinn, which is established in the downtown of Tallinn at Kaarli pst 1, acts as a showroom for the aforementioned tools and as an arena for public participation. Together, all these tools act as an ecosystem for collaborative planning, facilitating the process of co-creation and inclusive decision-making.
This pilot project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Estonian Ministry of Research and Education project "Smart City Centre of Excellence" (2014-2020.4.01.20-0289).
