Team Plyke won the green deal category at the Garage48 Narva hackathon, held between14 –16 May 2021.
Over the course of the weekend, 17 teams took part in the hackathon. The event was held online, with teams participating from Narva to London & Roskilde. Plyke won the green deal category award. During the weekend, the team developed their market entry strategy and got a handful of valuable contacts from potential partners in the mobility industry.
Plyke makes bicycle bells from a single piece of metal, as opposed to a plethora of parts and materials, making it as simplistic as possible. The single piece mechanism gives Plyke an innovative design and makes it 100% recyclable. Single-piece mechanisms are also used in different industries, e.g. biomedical devices & satellite technology.
Plyke was awarded 1000€ for developing their concept further, provided by the European Commission. The team were also given the possibility to participate in Prototron & Tehnopol’s incubators. Both have been a springboard for many successful companies, like Comodule & Applysis. The prizes were handed out by Kersti Kaljulaid, the President of Estonia, on the 20th May at the Narva College of the University of Tartu.
Plyke will start selling their first edition bells on June 14th. The first 39 people to order a Plyke bell will get it with a special engraving and become part of an exclusive early Plyke owners club.
