Building Educational Co-operation in Smart City / Nordplus Horizontal project

What is the purpose of the project?
support, build on, reap the benefits of and promote innovative products and processes in education through the systematic exchange of experiences and good practice
contribute to the development of quality and innovation in the educational systems for lifelong learning in the participating Nordplus countries through co-operation in education and training, as well as co- operation with the labour market on development projects, exchange programmes and networking
The overall aim of the project is to support the creation of a new multicultural network of knowledge transfer and innovation between educational institutions, enterprises and sector organisations, and to further support the close cooperation between these groups in Nordic and Baltic countries.

The focus of these activities will be in three main themes - workbased learning, entrepreneurship, digitalization & IT.
The first Study Tour – Creative Entrepreneurship 16-18th of January 2019
The second Study Tour - Challenges of digitalization in smart cities 3-5th of June 2019
The third Study Tour - Challenges of work based learning in smart cities 14-16th of October 2019
Where the students, lecturers and partners can attend?
Job-shadowing day, hackathon, creative campus, creative workshop, open-lectures and company visits.
In this project Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences is a project coordinator.
Vilniaus kolegija/University of Applied Sciences is an accredited higher education institution that provides professional bachelor's degree in the fields of social sciences, physical sciences and humanities. It is open to innovations, flexible, and continually changing professional higher education institution that is combining labour market needs with the development of perspective areas of science and art. In this project Vilnius College is a responsible for compiling the theme report in entrepreneurship and for the dissemination.
Norwegian University of Science and Technology is a public research university. In addition to engineering and natural sciences, the university offers higher education in other academic disciplines ranging from social sciences, the arts, medical and life sciences, teacher education, architecture and fine art. In this project NUST is responsible for the study tour in the field of digitalization.
Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences is a state higher education institution, which offers 17 study programmes at the Faculty of Society and Science and the Faculty of Engineering. ViA offers high- quality and flexible study programmes that successfully balance theory and practice. These are adapted to the current needs of society and changes in the labour market. The quality of the studies is ensured by experienced and professional teaching staff, advanced study methods, as well as by students who know what they want to achieve and how to succeed. In this project ViA is responsible for the theme report in the field digitalization.
Tampere University of Applied Sciencesis a higher education institution oriented towards working life and RDI co-operation. TAMK is characterized by its diversity and multidisciplinary education. In all their education and development projects, competences in different fields are boldly and creatively combined. TAMK's educational provision focuses particularly on wellbeing and health, business, and industrial production, with special emphasis on promoting learning and creativity.In this project TAMK is responsible for study tour in the field of entrepreneurship.
Oulu University of Applied Scienceis a strong and multidisciplinary University of Applied Sciences. They educate competent and innovative professionals and do active research and development. In co-operation with their partner institutions they create new vitality to the northern region. In Oulu UAS you can study the fields of education of culture, natural resources, business and information, health and social care and engineering. In this project OUAS is organizing the summary event of the project.
Aalborg University(AAU) has been providing students with academic excellence, cultural engagement and personal development since its inception. It offers education and research within the fields of natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, technical and health sciences. AAU currently consolidates and further develops its profile as a dynamic and innovative research and educational institution oriented towards the surrounding world. In this project AAU is responsible for the kick-off event of the project.
Mainor AS - over time, Mainor's business operations have included trainings, consulations and development activities. The development of Ülemiste Citydistrict began in 2005 as a new exciting challenge for Mainor. 350 enterprises with close to 8,000 employees operate at Ülemiste City. The companies operating at the campus have a total annual revenue of close to 1 billion euros. In this project Mainor is a responsible for one of the study tours in Ülemiste Smart City, in the field of workbased learning.
University of Akureyri is a young and dynamic university that is looking towards the future in its development of education and research and they teach health sciences, humanities and social science. The University of Akureyri prepares students for a wide range of opportunities in both the private and the public sectors. Education and research are closely linked to achieve this, first and foremost by assigning equal importance to them in the daily work of the academic and scientific staff and whenever possible course work is based on research. In this project Akureyri is responsible for the theme report in workbased learning.
